We also have offices in London, where the marketing, online and wholesale team reside.

Production Assistant (Nottingham)

We have a unique opportunity within our business; we are looking for a Production Assistant who is engaged and excited by our brand.


Your core responsibilities will be:

As a Production Assistant you will be working with the Production Manager to purchase all raw materials from fabrics to trims, liaising directly with suppliers and chasing orders for critical delivery dates. Assisting with the Shipping & Logistics (Import & Export). Ensure products are delivered in a timely manner in line with the Critical path. Plan production with in-house facility and maximise fabric usage. Procurement of externally sourced finished product (clothing and accessories)
and packing materials.

The role will include, but not be limited to:

  • To support the business and the Production Manager in all aspects of the Sourcing Production and the Warehousing process to ensure on time delivery of the Sunspel collections to the required deadlines. You will be involved with the planning, coordination and control of manufacturing processes.
  • Work on costing the collections and making any amendments through the computer system within agreed deadlines.
  • Through the computer system, analyse sales i.e. style, quality, colour, quantity, and sizes to assess the manufacturing capacity required. Check availability, schedule requirements and book production space.
  • Constantly liaise with suppliers on fabric/trims, to constantly review fabric and trims availability and update manufacturers on development.
  • Reserve space for all processing required away from main manufacturing site, if required (e.g. laundries, dyers, embroiders, printers etc.) and ensure that the information is accurately reflected on the computer system e.g. style costings and work production orders.
  • Contribute, where required, to departmental sampling through liaison with the Technical Department. Review
    sample accuracy and graded pattern requirements. Ensure that all style and colour variation components are accurately listed and reflected in the computer system.
  • Create work orders via computer system on both continuity product and forward orders. Orders must also be processed for mid-season production when required and call off stock when these suppliers are used, using the same computerised method, and again ensuring accurate reflection in style costings and work production orders.
  • Work in progress should always be monitored and house kept through the computer system to genuinely reflect
    anticipated deliveries from suppliers. Deliveries of completed orders should be monitored and chased, where necessary, and any shortfalls reflected in the computer system.
  • To work with and support the Production Manager with all internal reporting, Pricing, Delivery schedules and any other reports that we require for the business.
  • Complete support and continual contact with factories should be maintained throughout the main production season. Full quality inspections/audits must be implemented and maintained.
  • To ensure goods are produced efficiently and that the correct amount is produced at the right cost and level of quality.
  • Any other duties not specified above, as outlined by your Line Manager and considered relevant for the proper performance of your role.

Experience and skills:

  • 3 years’ experience in similar role(s)
  • Manufacturing, production, procurement background
  • Excellent knowledge working with a critical path
  • Used to working in a fast-paced environment and have a proactive approach to tasks.
  • Knowledge in scheduling, planning and prioritising workflow and meeting deadlines.
  • Good analytical skills, competent on MS Excel and the ability to learn in-house systems quickly.
  • Super organised; ability to plan, schedule and collaborate with all relevant stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • An understanding of import and export logistics.

The Role
